Camolgi, Italy: Sagra del Pesce

Today (Mother's Day) and the second Sunday of April is the Sagra del Pesce, in Camolgi, Italy, a tiny fishing village on the Ligurian Coast of Italy. It's an annual local festival where huge amounts of fish, squid and octopus are fried in a giant frying pan in the middle of the town, and given out to the local and visitors for free, in hopes that the seas will be equally as generous to the local fisherman in the summer to come.

We were lucky to meet a very nice Italian couple, who are also staying at our B&B who invited us to go along with them to the festival. Mateo and Katherine are from Eastern Italy... they didn't speak much English, and we don't speak much Italian, but it was fun at least trying to communicate with each other and learning about their culture. We had tons of fun and feel lucky to have seen this local yearly event in person, with the native perspective. And the Frita Mista del Mer was great!
