Easter Sunday: Church, A Walk Along the Seine & The Eiffel Tower

Easter Sunday was our first real day in Paris. We were still really jet lagged, but we managed to walk all over Central Paris, despite the horrible weather.

First we stumbled upon an incredible local's cathedral, built sometime in the late 1700's. Though relatively quite outside, the place was packed to the gills with Parisians dressed up for Easter Sunday mass. We were lucky to grab some prime pew seats with a good view of a traditional French mass. Inside, the church was incredible, with vaulted ceilings and ancient tile work and frescos inside. We listened to a few beautiful songs of prayer sang by the clergy, and watch the blessing of the palms and sprinkling of water. This was Jacob's first catholic church experience and he was pretty impressed.

After Easter Mass we explored some of the narrow quaint streets and marveled at the incredibly cure storefronts.
Next we strolled along the seine in the rain. And I got my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, right past the square where Marie Antoinette was beheaded.

We walked all the way to the Parc du Champ de Mars, and all the way down, under the tower, and over the river to the Place du Trucadero, which offered an amazing view of the tower, and a good perspective of just how far we had walked. Finally, we got some decent weather too!
